2:   Convener’s bit:

Welcome to Sustainable Economics , the newsletter of the Green Economy Policy Working Group. In this edition you will find details of events which will be of interest around the country.

There are plenty more being planned at the moment -- in the Scottish Parliament, in Lancaster and in Leeds; we will keep you updated in every edition of what is happening.

The Green Party’s Green Economy Working group has spawned an independent charitable organisation the Green Economics Institute and this is attracting considerable attention at the moment with over 90,000 enquiries in its first year!

The Sustainable Economics journal is run by its Editor, Brian Leslie and is used as the newsletter of the Green Party Green Economy Working Group. I would encourage everyone to write articles for Brian to print.

The Green Economics Institute also has now a refereed academic journal. The first edition is about to go to press and we are always interested in articles, all of which are double-blind peer-reviewed. Please email the editor, Miriam Kennet, at Greeneconomicsinstitute@yahoo.com to discuss your article’s inclusion there.

We are also publishing a series of Green Economics books with Pluto Press and the first one has just come out -- Derek Wall’s Babylon and Beyond. You can buy this through the Green Economics Institute. Please email to request a copy.

The Institute is busy planning academic research projects on Green Economics subjects too, and are keen to hear from academic fundraisers and academic researchers.

Additionally, with our regular conferences we are always keen to hear from interesting speakers -- so please email with your idea for a workshop, which will usually last one hour, and please advise which conference or geographical location you prefer.

If you are a Green Party member you can now subscribe to our email discussion list. If you are a member of the Institute you are welcome to go on our mailing lists. Please email to let us know and we will send you details.

There are various associated groups also working on taxation and Citizens’ Income and speakers on specialist subjects -- we will send details of this in the next issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Miriam Kennet
